Wayang Kulit

This is so exciting.

we're very privileged to have pak midiyanto back in singapore and helping us prepare for this performance. if you don't remember who pak mid is, he's the famous javanese musician who came to tune the gamelan set in school last year. he's also a lecturer at UC Berkeley, y'all! anyway, he's in town with his 8 year old son who skipped his 3rd grade classes to be with daddy. very cute.

so yes, pak mid has been preparing both the nus and nafa gamelan group for this event (besides tuning our gamelan set again. here's wat happened last year) and we'll be presenting this wayang kulit performance along with the storytelling association on the last wed of this month in school.

Ooh! Best part!
The wayang will be in English! Also, besides the Dhalang (puppeteer), Singapore's storytellers will also be narrating the story of "Bima's Search for the Nest of the Wind". okay like don't ask me what that means. Go catch the performance!
