According to the Smashing Pumpkins website:
The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer.
finally, and i'm stoked.
and oh, billy blogs too. heehee.
would love to have tea with him and pick his brain, he's amazing and has a way with words, even upped the ante by dating helena christensen (she's gorgeous!) once too.
anyway, yus started it. yes she did.
she had part of the lyrics to tonight, tonight on her msn and it got me singing and i was whisked back to circa '96.
sp has been a major, major part of my life [read: coming of age], and i think my parents must've thought their daughter dah buang tebiat. it was also hard finding girls loving sp, which kinda explains why i had more male friends. i was partial y'know, i only got to know guys who were into sp. haha.
ah, sp.
all their songs were like anthems to me.
i sing them like i recite some mantra.
they've accompanied me on long trips and at times when i just don't feel like talking to anyone with my earphones stuck in my ear and the cd on loop.
like i said, it brought me 10-12 years back, in the midst of the o'levels season, and boys. the companionship relationship lasted till 2001 - that was when my discman died and i was satisfied with playing the cds on the computer when i'm 'home' from uni instead, and we slowly parted. it didn't help that my sp kaki wasnt around with me either.
i've to admit i 'lost touch' after machina. i lost faith for awhile cos after that, they went on with their individual projects. then came zwan, same quality as sp but even with billy at the helm, it just sounded too happy for me. all i want was my smashing pumpkins - billy, james, d'arcy and jimmy.
my only regret was not being able to go see them when they were here, and giving away my copy of aeroplane flies high (a gazillion arghs!). i really should slit my wrist for that (just kidding y'all!).
