time-a-lot me

lemme introduce you two fine specimens from the the 'a-lot' land - love-a-lot bear and like-the-curtain-a-lot cat.

this is gonna be the last few days before i'm swamped with school work again.
argh.
have got to get my waking-up time back to the way it was - 0745 hrs.

i wanted to write about the assimilation of the gifted programme kids with the mainstream kids but topic dah basi.
but since i've already touched the subject, i'll just give a summary of what i think.
i really, really don't see a problem here. gifted kids have always done okay socially. some may lack abit of eq but lack of eq does not only affect the gifted. the gep guys i know back then were as social and gatal like normal guys. they sure did not have that 'i'm gifted n u're not' mentality. sure, they go through special curriculum during sec school, but after sec school, they still go on to normal tertiary institutions like the rest of us. if that is not assimilation, i donnow what is. besides, there is no such thing as a gifted tertiary institution like an mit for 10 year-olds here in sg is there?

the problem here is not non-assimilation, but rather the labelling of kids. i wish the labelling would just stop. no more labels like em1/em2/em3/gep/express/normal/technical or whatever (the labels keep getting more and more don't they?). once there's a label, there will be segregation.
why, oh please tell me why then that they don't hightlight the problem of non-assimilation of weaker students? and please don't tell me that there isn't a problem when even the teachers themselves tend to discriminate?

they sure do address the wrong problem sometimes and it's very irritating when the wrong problems gets addressed and nothing's been done to the real problem.

such is life.
