i don't get it

fights and brawls happen all the time in suburbs all over down under.
pick any night, any club/pub/bar/TAB (basically any place that has booze), in any suburb and chances are, there's a brawl or one that's about to happen.
sometimes it doesn't even have to be in a club/pub (in this case, it happened at the beach).

so then, why is it a racial issue now?

i'm not condoning the acts of the lebanese gang that started the whole thing. they were probably looking for potential targets to do their no-goodness (like alot of delinquents all around the world do). i'm not sure, but i doubt if they were looking for specific targets (eg tourists or lifeguards), they were up to no good and they could've attacked anybody and everybody there.

what i don't understand is how the rest of the community can come up with a 'plan' to wipe out people who looks lebanese and justify it as 'reclaiming their country'. i'm not sure if that's a good way of showing patriotism. acting like that makes them worse than the original culprits. news footage showed how barbaric the mob became after being fuelled by lotsa alcohol. i mean, they were attacking even the police who were escorting victims. there's absolutely no reason to attack the police or the paramedics. the ones i saw on tv sure did not look lebanese at all.

i think it's embarrasing.

and i still don't get it.
